One of the most controversial topics in America is abortion. In medical terms, â€Å"an abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus† (Medicine Net). All around the world, the practice of abortions has been widely used to control a woman’s reproduction. The polarizing, emotional debate on abortion has been an ongoing issue that still exists today. People’s different perspectives and opinion on whether or not abortion is immoral continue to divide America into two groups: â€Å"Pro-choice† and â€Å"Pro-life†. Through this simple statement made so many years ago, the founding fathers laid down not only the framework for the basic freedoms that Americans cherish, but also the foundation for establishing a diverse nation. Essentials of Unfair Dismissal According to the aforementioned act (Legislation.gov.au, 2017), it can be stated that for an employee to seek unfair dismissal he needs to have completed the minimum period of employment. It is also to be mentioned that there must be an existing agreement between the employer and the employee who wishes to seek remedy for unfair dismissal. The aforementioned act states the definition of minimum time period of employment. If the employer cannot be called a small business employer, it is essential for the employee to be employed under him six months. However it is to be mentioned that the employee must be provided with a letter of dismissal prior to the dismissal. In case of a small business employer, it is necessary for the employee to be employed under him for a period of not less than one year before he can bring charges of unfair dismissal on the employer. It is important to mention that the period of employment with an employer is the period when the employee was providing constan t service to the employer and was not on temporary employment. The time period of service of a casual employee does not count and the same cannot be eligible to seek remedies for unfair dismissal. However, there are exceptions to the abovementioned provisions. If a casual employee can prove that he was working on a regular basis or if the employee can prove there was reasonable ground for him to expect the continuation of service, he will be eligible for the seek remedies of unfair dismissal. However, section 387 of the aforementioned act governs the criteria to consider the harshness of dismissal. It can be stated that an employee will not be considered to have been dismissed harshly if it is to be proved that the employee was lacking the capacity required for the job or his conduct was inappropriate for the same. It is also to be mentioned that the employee must be notified of the same and given a warning and chance to rectify his actions before his dismissal. In that case the employee cannot claim that the employer was harsh in dismissing him. Remedies for unfair dismissal Reinstatement According to section 391 of the Fair Works Act 2009 it can be stated that the Fair Works Commission may reinstate a person if it is proved that the person was unfairly dismissed. Reinstatement of a person means to reappoint the person in the position in which he was working before. The commission can also give the order to appoint the person in a position which would be in no way be less favorable than the position he was working in prior to his dismissal. It can be stated that an employee can only be employed in a post which is equivalent to the position he was working in if the position in which he was employed is unavailable. It can be stated that the Fair Works Commission can order under subsection(1) of section 391 of the act to ensure the continuity of employment of the employee in the position he was employed before or an equivalent position. The commission under the Subsection 1 can also order the employer to pay remuneration for the time period when the employ ee was unemployed. The commission however takes into account the amount earned by the employee during the unemployment from other work in deciding the compensation. It may also take into account the remuneration likely to be earned by the employee during his unemployment, which can be considered reasonable. Compensation According to section 392 of the Fair Works Act 2009 it can be stated that the FWC may grant an order of compensation to be provided to the employee by the employer, if it is proved that the employee had dismissed unfairly. Compensation can be considered a remuneration to be paid to the employee by the employer for being able to reinstate the same in the employees former position or equivalent position. According to subsection 2 of section 392 of the Fair works Act 2009 it can be stated that the there are certain criteria to be followed by the Fair Works Commission for judging the compensation to be granted to the employee. They are: The time period of employment of the employee with the employer, The remuneration to have been received by the employee had not been dismissed. The effort given by the employee to mitigate the loss suffered by the same during the term of un employment The remuneration earned by the employee from other employment or work during the period of dismissal The amount of remuneration to have reasonably been earned by the employee during the time period of the award of the compensation and the actual compensation received. However according to subsection 3 of the aforementioned section of the aforementioned act the it can be stated that the Fair works commission takes into account the whether the employee in consideration had been charged of misconduct prior to the dismissal. In case the employee was charged of misconduct, the Fair works commission reduces the compensation it would have ordered if the employee had not been charged of misconduct. It is to be mentioned that the FWC does not take into consideration the mental stress, humiliation, disregard faced by the employee prior to its dismissal. It can be stated that the remuneration to be paid to the employee should be total of what the employee was entitled to which is the remuneration of twenty-six weeks, prior to the dismissal of the employee. If the employee was on leave without or partial pay the remuneration to be received by the employee will be in accordance with regulations of the employer. Subsection 391(3) and 392(2) of the aforementione d acts states that the FWC may instruct the employer to pay the compensation Installments. However it is to be mentioned that the employer must pay the compensation to the employee within the specified time as stated by the Fair Works Commission. Unfair Dismissal Remedy Procedure: It can be stated that the employee, who has been dismissed on unfair grounds and wishes to seek remedy must apply to the Fair Work Commission for granting a remedy to the employee. The application made to the Fair Work Commission must be made within a time period of twenty days of the dismissal. It is to be noted that the Fair Work Commission may grant an extension of the application period if: The reason of delay is mentioned by the employee The employee had become aware later of the dismissal of the same The application of the parties has merit. An application fee has to be paid by the applicant under Division 5 of the aforementioned act to apply to the Fair Work Commission for seeking remedy for unfair dismissal. Redundancy: An exception to Unfair Dismissal According to section 389 of the aforementioned act it can be stated the dismissal of an employee due to genuine redundancy will not be considered unfair dismissal. Genuine redundancy can be defined as a situation when the employer of an employee no longer requires the services of the employee due to a change in the nature of work. It can be stated when an employee is dismissed due the change in the operations of the business, his dismissal cannot be called unfair. However, it is to be stated that an employees dismissal cannot be justified by redundancy if the employee had a scope of redeployment in other sector of the enterprise of the employer or in the enterprise of an associate of the employer. Thus to conclude, it can be stated that there are several criteria which are to be taken into consideration by the Fair Work Commission in identifying whether an employee was dismissed unfairly. It is important to state that there are several criteria for the employees to prove that they had been terminated harshly. However, the employees if terminated on unfair grounds have the right to seek remedies for the same. The aggrieved parties may apply to the Fair work Commission to seek remedies for Unfair Dismissal by following the procedures as stated by the Fair Work Act 2009. The remedies to be granted to the employees include Reinstatement and compensation. It is important to mention that if the employees had been dismissed due genuine redundancy they can claim that they had been dismissed on unfair grounds. This seems to be true of William Shakespeare in Romeo and Juliet. Throughout his play, Shakespeare uses death to move his story along. He does this with actual deaths, which cause problems for the lovers, and through premonitions and dreams of death. Both Juliet and her Romeo exhibit these premonitions/dreams. The use of death is immediately seen in the prologue of the play: The fearful passage of their death-marked love (Shakespeare Pro. 9). The Prologue offers us the inevitable fate of the two lovers short and abrupt. During the first act of the play, we learn of the Capulets ball, and of how the lovers met. After the ball is over, Juliet says, If he be, married, my grave is like to be my wedding bed, (I, v, ll.143-44) which is a foreboding of the final scene of the play. This partially leads to Romeo and Tybalts duel in III, i, as Romeos presence at the ball antagonizes Tybalt. In II, iv, Benvolio and Mercutio reveal that Tybalt has sent Romeo a challenge to a duel. Just before the arrival of Juliet, the Friar warns Romeo against consummating their new marriage too quickly. Romeo agrees, but challenges death to ruin the moment, ...then love-devouring death do what he dare (I, vi, ll.7.). Now if only the marriage was made public, these forebodings may not have come to pass especially the duel with Tybalt. In III, i, Tybalt accosts Benvolio and Mercutio in search of Romeo. Now, Romeo does not want to duel with Tybalt as he is now secretly his kinsman, but this does not stop Mercutio for getting in the mix with Tybalt. Romeo gets between the two men, and as Tybalt attempts to run Romeo through, the sword goes under Romeos arm and mortally wounds Mercutio. Before he is taken away, Mercutio says to Romeo, Why the devil came you between usA plague o both your houses! They have made worms meat of me. I have it, and soundly too. A plague! (ll.102-103, 10106-108). Here, we see Mercutio cursing the two houses, and, in essence, foreboding things to come. Mercutio is taken to a near house to be treated, and moments later, Romeo is informed of Mercutios death. Romeo, now enraged, duels with Tybalt and slays him. The Prince arrives upon the scene, and after an account of the happenings, banishes Romeo to Mantua upon penalty of death. This banishment of Romeos inevitably leads to even greater probl ems later in the play. In III, ii, Juliet prophesizes bad things to come when she says, Give me my Romeo; and, when he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine (ll.21-23). The Nurse enters and informs Juliet that Tybalt has been slain by Romeo. Juliet looks at the situation as the death of both the men, as Romeos banishment is like a death. III, iii is moved to the Friars cell, where Romeo is exhibiting his self-pity to the Friar. At the conclusion of the scene, in a reaction of brass judgement, Romeo demands the Friar tell him what part of the body his name is, so he may cut it out with a knife he has drawn. This seems to imply Romeos desire to be dead, rather than be without Juliet. Initially, at the beginning of this scene, Capulet will have no talk of marriage, due to the recent death in the family. However, in order to help Juliet through her grief over Tybalts death, Capulet decides to marry her off to Paris (III, iv). Of course this is a problem as she is secretly married to Romeo at this time. In III, v, Lady Capulet states, Ill send one in Mantua, where that same banished runagate doth live, that he shall soon keep Tybalt company (ll94-96). This statement prophesizes Romeos death later in the final scene of the play. The Simpsons is one of Americas most popular television shows. It ranks as the number one television program for viewers under eighteen years of age. However, the ideals that The Simpsons conveys are not always wholesome, sometimes not even in good taste. It is inevitable that The Simpsons is affecting children. Matt Groening took up drawing to escape from his troubles in 1977. At the time, Groening was working for the L.A. Reader, a free weekly newspaper. He began working on Life in Hell, a humorous comic strip consisting of people with rabbit ears. The L.A. Reader picked up a copy of his comic strip and liked what they saw. Life in Hell gradually became a common comic strip in many free weeklies and college newspapers across the country. It even developed a cult status. (Varhola, 1) Life in Hell drew the attention of James L. Brooks, producer of works such as Taxi, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Terms of Endearment. Brooks originally wanted Groening to make an animated pilot of Life in Hell. Groening chose not to do so in fear of loosing royalties from papers that printed the strip. Groening presented Brooks with an overweight, balding father, a mother with a blue beehive hairdo, and three obnoxious spiky haired children. Groening intended for them to represent the typical American family "who love each other and drive each other crazy". Groening named the characters after his own family. His parents were named Homer and Margaret and he had two younger sisters named Lisa and Maggie. Bart was an anagram for "brat". Groening chose the last name "Simpson" to sound like the typical American family name. (Varhola, 2) Brooks decided to put the 30 or 60 second animations on between skits on The Tracy Ullman Show on the unsuccessful Fox network. Cast members Dan Castellaneta and Julie Kavner did the voices of Homer and Marge. Yeardley Smith (later to star in Herman's Head) did the voice of Lisa. Nancy Cartwright did the voice of Bart. Cartwright previously supplied the voices for many cartoons, including Galaxy High, Fantastic Max, Richie Rich, Snorks, Pound Puppies, My Little Pony, and Glo-Friends. Tracy Ullman later added Cartwright to her cast. (Dale and Trich, 11) Brooks, Groening, and Sam Simon, Tracy Ullman's producer, wanted to turn the Simpson family into their own show. The Fox network was looking for material to appeal to younger viewers. The only show they had that drew a young audience was Married With Children. To Fox's pleasure, The Simpsons saved the network from near failure. (Varhola, 3) On December 17, 1989, The Simpsons got their break. The Christmas special, "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" aired. (Dale and Trich, 19) In the episode, Bart got a tattoo, much to Marge's dislike. She quickly spent all of the family's Christmas money to remove Bart's tattoo with a laser. At the same time, Homer, still on his morning coffee break at 4:00 in the afternoon, learns that he will not receive a Christmas bonus. When he learns that Marge is relying on the money for Christmas, he decides that he will do the Christmas shopping for the year. He quickly buys Marge panty hose, Bart paper, Lisa crayons, and Maggie a dog toy. When he realizes that he is not doing very well, he gets a second job as a mall Santa for the extra money. On the way home from work, he steals a Christmas tree. The next day at the mall, Bart sits on his Dad's lap and pulls down his beard. Homer responds by choking Bart and making him help make Christmas better. On Christmas Eve, Homer receives his check, $13.70 for over 40 hours work. During her time in there she would learn about the poisons she would later write about in some of her books. During the war her sister, Margaret, challenged Agatha to write a mystery story the reader couldnt solve. Agatha accepted the challenge because the thought it would be a good way to alleviate boredom. The Mysterious Affair at Styles was the first mystery novel that Agatha Christie wrote. However, it was not very well accepted. Agatha sent it to many publishing companies and only Bodley Head, a company Agatha forgot she had sent the book to, would accept it. An Investigation Into The Eight Queens Problem Essays - Chess An Investigation into the Eight Queens Problem Introduction The eight queens problem relies on a very simple chess-based concept. However, no chess knowledge, other than this background, is required. Chess is a game plajghyed on a 8 by 8 grid of 64 squares. The grid is checkered with two colors, usually white and black, the bottom right hand corner being white. The players sit opposite of each other and have sixteen chess pieces that they use to attempt to win the game.1 The objective of the game is to use your sixteen chess pieces to checkmate the king?that is, having the king in a situation where he is unable to move without being in threat of being captured by an opponent?s piece. Each chess piece has certain chess rules which governs the way each chess piece may move. One of the pieces is called the Queen. The Queen is ultimate piece of the chess board being able to move in any direction and for any number of squares.2 How many ways can eight queens be placed on a chess board so that no other queen will attack another?3 A queen can attack any other queen along the eight paths which extend from queen. These paths are vertically, horizontally, and diagonally.4 Development Some observations must be made before attempting to solve this problem. Since there is a 8 by 8 chess board and 8 queens, then there must be a queen on each row. Also, a chess board has four black, and four white squares in each row. That would mean that half of the queens must be placed on black squares and half of the queens must be placed on the white squares.5 Each chess square will be labeled in the method shown in figure 1. Plastics are used to manufacture an incredible number of products we use every day, such as beverage and food containers, trash bags and grocery bags, cups and utensils, childrens toys and diapers, and bottles for everything from mouthwash and shampoo to glass cleaner and dishwashing liquid. And thats not even counting all the plastic that goes into furniture, appliances, computers,  and automobiles. The Need Is Growing As the use of plastics has increased over the years, they have become a larger part of our nations municipal solid waste (MSW)- growing from less than 1 percent in 1960 to more than 13 percent in 2013, according to a report by the Environmental Protection Agency. As an example of how and why plastic waste is increasing, the International Bottled Water Association reports that the  U.S.  consumed 9.67 billion gallons of bottled water in 2012, compared to 9.1 billion gallons the year before. The United States is the worlds leading consumer of bottled water. A good first step in reducing waste is switching to a reusable water bottle. Natural Resources and Energy Conservation Recycling plastics reduces the amount of energy and resources (such as water, petroleum, natural gas, and coal) needed to create plastic. According to a 2009 study by researchers Peter Gleick and Heather Cooley  from the Pacific Institute of California, a pint-sized bottle of water requires about 2,000 times as much energy to produce as the same amount of tap water. Recycling Plastics Saves Landfill Space Recycling plastic products also keeps them out of landfills and allows the plastics to be reused in manufacturing new products. Recycling 1 ton of plastic saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space. And lets face it, a lot of plastic ends up directly in the environment, breaking down into tiny pieces, polluting our soil and water, and contributing to the oceans Great Garbage Patches. Its Relatively Easy Recycling plastics has never been easier. Today, 80 percent of Americans have easy access to a plastics recycling program, whether they participate in a municipal curbside program or live near a drop-off site. A universal numbering system for plastic types makes it even easier. According to the American Plastics Council, more than 1,800 U.S. businesses handle or reclaim postconsumer plastics. In addition, many grocery stores now serve as recycling collection sites for plastic bags and plastic wrap. Room for Improvement Overall, the level of plastics recycling is still relatively low. In 2012, only 6.7 percent of plastics in the municipal solid waste stream were recycled, according to the EPA. Alternatives to Plastic While recycling is important, one of the best ways to reduce the amount of plastic in our nations MSW is to find alternatives. For example, reusable grocery bags have seen a growth in popularity in recent years, and they are a great way to limit the amount of plastic that needs to be generated in the first place.

These have been the principles that have inspired my learning abilities as I chose to join the university. English language has been the mostly applied international language in understanding given information and completing successful course selection. I have always wanted to become a professional writer and an advanced analyst of given compositions that are based on the English language (Chan and Lutovich 28). With the Expository writing course, the advancement of these needed traits has been harbored to boost my morale and the attributes needed to deliver success. I had joined the university with the motive to advance both my English language and become successful in the course that I had needed to complete to becoming an advanced graduate. When I initially took the writing course at the commencement of the semester, I held the idea that the language learning would be an easy task, but the process proved cumbersome and difficult. However, with more exercises and tasks to be completed, I have advanced in my writing and thinking abilities to become better at the English language (Bullock, Goggin, and Weinberg 18). Although there is difficulty in mastering writing and comprehension ability, the course has proved to be the ideal tool in developing the language attributes. The expository writing course had presented the challenge to present mastery on six leading areas in language mastery. The leading attribute that I had managed to acquire was in the article comprehension and writing. With the input in the articles that I had managed to write, I learnt the importance of presenting my ideas in an organized manner.
